Promoting the Sardine Run and More in Cebu
MOALBOAL, CEBU
This travel blog contains three parts - The Sardine Run, Pescador Island and Mantayupan Falls.
1. SARDINE RUN
Moalboal is famous for its many dive sites and its great walls. The reefs begin at 3-5m and slope down to walls around 40-45m. Diving the Sardine Run of Moalboal is a must while you stay here. Notably, it is only one of two places in the world where you can experience such a dense school of millions of sardines. However, unlike the other, the Sardines are always here.
You will mainly experience macro marine life such as pygmy sea horse but every now and then you might find something bigger, such as Thresher sharks and sea turtles hunting for sardines.

2. PESCADOR ISLAND
Pescador Island is an island located in the Tañon Strait, a few kilometres from the western coast of the island of Cebu in the Philippines. It is part of the municipality of Moalboal.
The underwater composition of the Pescador island reef is a sandy slope covered with soft coral from 5–10 metres (15–35 ft), followed by a wall covered with hard corals dropping down to about 40 metres (130 ft). On the west side of the island, an open-top underwater cave nicknamed 'the Cathedral' can be found. Most recreational dive tours start at the island’s south end, and let the divers drift with the current either along the east or the west side of the island. Visibility conditions vary, but the current in the Tañon Strait pushes in clear water that often allows visibility up to 40 metres (130 ft). The island itself has a lighthouse and access steps on the north and east sides.

3. MANTAYUPAN FALLS
Before we went to Moalboal, we passed by Barili, just a few minutes before reaching the beach. We decided to take a dip in Mantayupan Falls for a an hour or two. The experience was so worth it.
This is the first time I have heard of Moalboal and I would love to visit it one day!
