Lost in Translation?

There is that old story of the construction of a tower tall enough to reach heaven. And God, observing this ambitious project, confounds the speech of the people so that they can no longer understand each other, and scatters them around the world... Babel of course!
Since then we struggle to understand each other and either learn other languages or get some people do the job for us and help us with our communication.

Translation, what an important job and challenging task! Finally after thousands of years it is officially recognized!

The General Assembly of the United Nations last year approved a truly significant resolution regarding diversity of languages and finally declared "International Translation Day" on the 30th of September. That is the day when the role of translators and the value of translation is celebrated.

The resolution affirmed that "respect for the world's cultural and linguistic diversity is a vital priority for promotion of the spirit of openness, equality and dialogue," and recognized "the role of multilingualism ... as a key value of the Organization, and its practice as a means of promoting, protecting and conserving the diversity of languages and cultures worldwide. "

So don't get annoyed by our language differences, but let's celebrate each year linguistic diversity along with those other people who are aware of language differences, the translators and interpreters or the common steemers around the globe!

Por ĉiuj, kiuj ŝatas lingvojn, sed ne volas esti perditaj en tradukado, ekzistas ankoraŭ google translate aŭ aliaj aŭtomataj tradukiloj.
