I love these kind of pics. My son had my phone awhile back and walked right up to a lady sitting on a bench and snapped a shot. One of the coolest photos I've ever (not) taken.
I often give my son an old iphone and let him snap photos like that. It is partially to build the love of photography in him, but also partially because when he takes photos of random people they will be more likely to smile, whereas if I do the same they are more likely to frown. Kids are good for that ;) You should share his shot—I'd love to see.
