The opening sequence of Quantum Leap keeps playing in my mind... hoping the next leap is the leap home. Today's train will take me home, to Philadelphia and although it will always be home, I don't think it will always feel like home. I'm mixed about being excited about going, but cautious about going. I say it's the weather, but it's like Plato's cave allegory; I've been out of the cave, off of the plantation. I've seen other places and cultures, more than just as a tourist, so my reality and sensitivities have changed. I cannot be re-inserted into the machine. Philadelphia seems like a re-insertion into the matrix.
Not the best pic, but a nice sunrise from the train.
A note about New Orleans Lyft drivers... they are the best and friendliest I've ever encountered. I'd say, "charming."
The boarding went very smoothly, as I am used to leaving from New Orleans. There's a group going to Philadelphia also, they have a coach of there own. The coach I'm on is sparse but we've been told there is a group expected.
Philadelphia bound.
I never got the last weigh in, the last workout, or my trip to the City Diner... but I'll live. I'm looking at 29 hours of traveling... and a time zone... so maybe it's 28. I've done more. This train is very roomy. I've loaded the laptop with some podcasts to catch up on and I can practice video editing with the new software. And, of course I can imagine the next two months in Philly.
Roomy and spacious, Crescent 20 out of New Orleans
Another day on a train..It's been a smooth, quiet ride so far. I've taken three meals on board, kind of a new practice for me not to have trail mix with me. Tomorrow I will start another entry on the road and finish it in Philadelphia. I think the weather should be Indian Summer when I get there.
Goodnight, I guess. Nothing else comes to mind.
