Bonfire Night Traditional Food
Well it's finally arrived.. The 5th of November or Bonfire Night in the UK
Different parts of the Country celebrate with different food
Here in Yorkshire the traditions is...
Pork Pies and Mushy Peas with mint sauce
The old fashioned way to make mushy peas took 24 hours after first soaking them over night and then boiling them. Thankfully today we have tinned already made mushy peas
Parkin
Parkin with custard is one of my favourites. Parking is very similar to ginger cake except they add dark treacle to the mix
Toffee apples were a great favourite as a kids but i'm not that keen today.. When we were kids we would eat the toffee and maybe a bit of the apples.. Then lose the apple when no one was looking :)
Also brandy snap which was yummy especially when it was soft and chewy
Looks my my healthy eating is out of the window tonight.. Next stop Christmas
