The Republic of Turkey - The first Turks in the Area - part I
The Oghuzes, one of the first tribes of he Turks began to emigrate to the area known as Turchia today (Latin = Turchia word meaning "Turks "). Migration was accelerated by the Malazgirt Victory that the Seljuks had obtained against the Byzantines. Many small nobility and the Anatolian Seljuk State ruled Anatolia until the Mongolian invasion and in the thirteenth century the Ottoman Principality united Anatolia to a state that governed Eastern Europe, Near East and North Africa.
Turkey is officially established on the Anatolian Plateau and the Thrace peninsula, which looks like a rectangle roughly in the east-west direction between the Republic of Turkey, the Northern Hemisphere, Europe and Asia. The Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea are surrounded by the Marmara Sea and the Aegean Sea which connect these two seas through the Bosphorus. The geography of Turkey has been host to many civilizations in the geography of Turkey, which is at the intersection of Mediterranean world, Balkans, Middle East and Far East migration and trade routes.
