Exceptional stories from ancient Turkey: Alexander the Great has severed the Gordian knot in Ankara.
Alexander the Great and the Gordian knot:
The ruins of Gordion lie near the Turkish capital Ankara. Alexander the Great visited it on his campaign eastwards 2,300 years ago.
His goal:
the Gordian knot.
He was associated with a prophecy:
"Who opens the Gordian knot, the world shall govern."
Alexander the Great has tried to separate the knot. He did not succeed. Instead, he cut it with his sword. Violence has been a solution in this case. After that, Alexander the Great conquered Persia, Egypt and the north of India.
