Avustralya'daki Katolik Kilisesi, rahiplerin itiraf sırasında ifşa edilen cinsel tacizi bildirmeye zorlanması gerektiği yönündeki bir dönüm noktası tavsiyesini resmen reddetti.
Beş yıllık araştırma, on binlerce çocuğun Avustralya kurumlarında kötüye kullandığını tespit etti. Katolik Kilisesi en çok davaya sahipti.
Cuma günü, kilise liderleri, soruların çoğunu kabul etti.
Ancak itiraftaki duruşları hükümetlerle gelecek çatışmaları oluşturabilir.
Avustralyalı Katolik Piskoposlar Konferansı, itirafın mühürünü kırmanın "inancımızın tersine ve dini hürriyete ters düştüğünü" söyledi.
Bildiride, "Mührü korurken çocukların ve savunmasız insanların korunmasına bağlıyız." Dedi.
Kilise liderleri, Vatikan’ın bekârlık kurallarını gevşetmelerini istemek de dahil olmak üzere başka önerileri de keşfedeceklerini söyledi.
