Veysel Şatıroğlu veya lakabı ile Âşık Veysel, 25 Ekim 1894 Şarkışla, Sivas'ta doğmuştur ve 21 Mart 1973 Sivrialan, Sivas'ta hayatını kaybetmiştir. Aşık Veysel Türk halk ozanıdır. Avşar boyunun Şatırlı obasına mensuptur.
