Zeus, kendisine itaat etmediği için Prometheus’a (titan, insanların yaratıcısı) kızıp, onun çamurdan var ettiği ve değer verdiği insanları cezalandırır. Önce insanlar kolayca bulamasın diye bütün besinleri toprağa gömer. Böylece uzun uğraşlar sonucu toprağı işleyip yiyecek elde etmek zorunda kalacaklardır. Daha da önemlisi en önemli unsurlardan biri olan ateşi insanlardan saklar. Prometheus, kendisi var ettiği insanların tarafında olduğu ve Zeus’a karşı olduğu için ateşi çalıp, insanlara geri verir.

Bunun üzerine çok sinirlenen Zeus Prometheus’a sonsuza kadar acı çekmesi için sürgüne gönderir ve çok sevdiği insanlığın başına gelmiş geçmiş en büyük belayı saracağını söyler. Ardından ünlü Hephaistos’u (ateşin tanrısı ve zanaatkar tanrı) çağırıp ona “Biraz toprakla suyu karıştır içinde insan sesi ve kuvveti olsun. Öyle bir şey olsun ki, yüzü tanrıçalara, vücudu genç kızlara benzesin” der. Sonra Athena’ya (bilgelik tanrıçası) “Ona işlemeyi ve renkli kumaşlar dokumayı öğret.”, Afrodit’e (güzellik, şehvet tanrıçası) “Onu büyülerinle sarmala, içinde istekler ve arzular kalsın.” Ve son olarak Hermeis’a (tanrıların habercisi, hırsızlar tanrısı) “İçinde bir köpek kalbi ve tilki huyu olsun.” Diyerek insanlığa vereceği büyük cezayı planlar.

Tanrılar Zeus’un söylediklerini yapıp, topraktan bir kadın yaratmışlardı. Kadını bir kutuya koydular ve Zeus kutunun içine bir ses fısıldadı. İsmi de Pandora olmuştu. Anlamı bütün tanrıların hediyesiydi. Zeus hazırlattığı hediyeyi Epimetheus’a (Titan,Prometheus’un kardeşi) göndermişti. Prometheus daha önceden olacakları bildiğinden, kardeşini tanrılardan gelen hiçbir hediyeyi kabul etmemesi konusunda uyarmıştı. Epimetheus ise kardeşinin bu sözlerini unutmuş, olağanüstü güzellikteki kutuyu görünce merakına yenik düşmüştü. Hediyeyi kabul edip içinden Pandora’nın çıkmasıyla birlikte yaptığı hatayı anlamıştı ki, artık herşey için çok geçti. Pandora kutunun kapağını açıp insanlara acıları, dertleri, ölümcül hastalıkları ve daha nice kötülükleri musallat etti. Ve tam o sırada umut kutudan çıkacakken, Zeus’un isteği üzerine Pandora kutunun kapağını kapatır. O günden bu yana insanların başından kötülükler eksik olmamış ve umutsuz bir şekilde yaşamaya devam etmişlerdir.

ENGLISH VERSION
Zeus gets angry with Prometheus who creator titans and humans, because of not obey him. And he punishes human which created from mud by Prometheus. As a resoult of that Zeus firstly digs the all food into the ground to couldn’t find by humans easily. So humans have to handle soil long time to get some food. More importantly, Zeus hides the fire which is one of the most important thing for humans. Prometheus, steals the fire and gives to humans back because he is from humans, created by him, side against Zeus.

After that Zeus gets angry to Prometheus and banishes him forever and he says that he will give really big trouble to Prometheus’ lovely human being. Then he calls Hephaistos who is the God of fire and craft and tells him that; “Mix some soil and water and put inside of it some human voice and power, make its face look like godness and its body look like young girls.” Then to Athena who is the God of wisdom “Teach it to process and weave color fabrics.” To Aphrodite who is the God of beauty and lust, “Wrap it with your magic, keep desires in it.” And finally to Hermeis who is the God of theifs and the messenger of the Gods, “Put a dog heart and fox habit in it.” And Zeus plans the big punnishment which is give to human being.

The Gods does what Zeus said and create a woman from soil. They put the woman to a box and Zeus whispered a voice into it. Her name is now Pandora. The meaning of her name is the gift of all Gods. Zeus sends the gift to Epimetheus who is a Titan and brother of Prometheus. Prometheus already knows what is going to be happen and aware his brother to don’t accept any gift from Gods. But Epimetheus forgot his brothers words and he succumbed to curiosity because of that awsome box. He accepts the gift, Pandora comes out of the box and he realized his big mistake but it was too late now. Pandora opens the lid of the box and she gives suffering, worries, deadly diseases and more and more to human being. And just then the hope gets out of the box, Pandora closes the box as Zeus’ demand. Since that day, evils doesn’t go away from human being and humans continue to live desperately.
