Sincaplar sincapgiller familyasına aittir.Sincaplar eski Türkçe’de Değin/Teyin/Deyin ve çekelez adlarıyla da bilinmektedir.Vücudün üst kısmı sarı,kırmızı ve siyahımsı olarak değişmektedir.Sincapların alt tarafları ise tamamen beyazdır.Sincaplar omurgalı hayvan türüne gimektedırler.Kış’ın kıl uçlarındaki pigmentler arttığı için Kış’ın kırmızı renkte olurlar.Kuyruktaki tüyler uzundur ve kuyruklarını kıvırıp sırtlarına değdirebilirler.Sincapların gözleri iri ve parlaktır.Kulaklarında tüy demetlerı bulunamaktadır.Sincapların arka ayakları ön ayaklarına göre daha uzun ve güçlüdür.Boyları ortalama ise 18-25 cm arasında değişmektedir.Kuyrukları ise 14-20 cm arasında değişmektedir.Ağırlık ortalamaları ise 15-51 gre arasında değişkenlik göstermektedir.
