San Juan de Los Morros, is the capital of the Guárico State, is practically the gateway to the Central Plains. It has a very particular geography where they prevail spectacular mountains with a singular aspect that give origin to part of the name of the city, the hills. In addition to these geographic formations, San Juan has a great variety of thermal waters which helped the development of the city since the end of last century and for which, in addition to the hills, have also given it fame in the country.

Another of the works that can be seen in this city is the monument of San Juan Bautista, which is located in the Plaza Bolivar of San Juan de Los Morros. Commonly called "Sanjuanote" was sent to build by General Juan Vicente Gómez in 1933 as a present for city when it was decreed Capital of the Guarico State. The monument measures 19.8 mts. Was carved in Calabozo on the Calvary Hill and transferred to San Juan in 1935.

As well as the temple of San Juan Bautista and the monument of San Juan, the governorate of the state is located opposite the Plaza Bolivar of the city. This building was constructed between 1933-1934 by the government of General Juan Vicente Gómez, in the same year in which the statue of San Juan Evangelista and the Plaza Bolivar itself were built.

The San Juan Thermal Baths are famous for their curative power, which is due to the high sulfate content of their waters. Such is its effectiveness and of so remote times, that being Guzmán Blanco President of Venezuela constructed the first highway to the city, in order to be able to accede to this curative source that had recommended to him to its general practitioner.Los-Morros-de-San-Juan.jpgguarico2a.jpg
