In my quest to bring to all steemian histories and interesting facts that most people aren’t aware of, I came across a village called Giethoorn in Netherlands that has no roads. water-village-no-roads-canals-giethoorn-netherlands-3.jpg

The village was nicknamed the Venice of Netherlands and it s has been founded in the 1230. It was said that the first inhabitants of this magic village fond numerous peat deposits and dug many holes over the years, eventually these holes turned into lakes years after.

To help residents and visitors get around this village, all the locales in Giethoorn have been linked with canals and footbridge. This beautiful city completely lack roadways, the people move around with boats as every settlement in the village has been linked with footbridge and canal.

Footbridge and canal have been the only mode of transportation in the region; it has approximately four miles of canal and 50 short wooden bridges.water-village-no-roads-canals-giethoorn-netherlands-10.jpg

In addition, in the aspect of tourism Giethoorn is a wonderful place you can visit. Tourist can enjoy various activities during their visit, canoeing around in a very peaceful village, seemingly always surrounded by greenery and unique architecture and it s extremely relaxing if you agree with me. There are interesting shops selling fossils and crystals museum on scuba diving and many more attractions in the village.
