2017 Tour de France: in 3 stages of the event, cyclists are racing on roads refurbished by Routière du Midi

in #tour7 years ago

On July 19, 20 and 21, Tour de France cyclists are racing on  many roads refurbished by the work teams at La Routière du Midi on  behalf of the departmental authorities at Hautes-Alpes and Alpes de  Haute-Provence.

It is worth noting that these roads include Col de Vars – a  mountain pass that has not been part of the Tour de France since 2000 –  and the mythical Col d’Izoard, which is the setting of the final uphill  race.
At Col d’Izoard, La Routière du Midi created a service road for  emergency service vehicles located in Parc régional du Queyras (a  protected “Natura 2000” site). As part of this particular mandate, work  teams had to replant vegetation and preserve protected species.
Tour  de France cyclists will race on departmental routes refurbished by La  Routière du Midi at Arvieux, Réotier, Rousset, and Saint-Chaffrey.
