Tottenham and Barcelona have met in competitive action just once before; a European Cup Winners' Cup semi-final back in the 1981/82 seasons.
After a 1–1 draw in north London, the Catalans progressed to the final thanks to a strike from Dane Allan Simonsen before going on to win the competition.
The two met in less dramatic circumstances in the summer, sharing a 2–2 draw in an International Champions Cup match in California.

Spurs were riding high after a 3–0 away win at Manchester United, but back-to-back defeats against Watford and Liverpool have taken the wind out of the clubs' sails of late.
Pochettino must pick his squad up as they kick off their continental ambitions with a glamour tie against Serie A stalwarts Inter, who are back in the competition for the first time since the 2011–12 season.

Team News
Tottenham have been dealt another injury blow after young midfielder Luke Amos was ruled out for the remainder of the season with knee ligament damage.
Amos twisted his knee in the U-23 match against Blackburn last week and he will undergo surgery once the swelling has subsided.
The 21-year-old impressed during Spurs' pre-season tour of the US, starting the friendlies against Roma, Barcelona and AC Milan, and he made his senior debut from the bench on the opening day of the season against Newcastle.
With Dele Alli (hamstring), Christian Eriksen (abdomen) and Mousa Dembele (thigh) among the five first-team players out of Wednesday's match against Barcelona and Saturday's game against Cardiff, Amos would have been in contention for a place in the match-day squad.
Provisional squad: Gazzaniga, Whiteman, Trippier, Foyth, Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Sanchez, Davies, Dier, Wanyama, Dembele, Eriksen, Lamela, Winks, Moura, Son, Llorente, Kane

Watford boss Javier Gracia is again expected to rotate his side for the Carabao Cup tie with Tottenham.
Isaac Success and Domingos Quina should be in contention, having both scored in the last round at Reading, while midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah is another expected to feature.
Sebastian Prodl and Stefano Okaka are both recovering from minor problems, and Miguel Britos (thigh) is also not available. Captain Troy Deeney, who played against Fulham with broken toes, will be rested. Winger Gerard Deulofeu (abdominal) and Tom Cleverley (Achilles) continue their recovery.
Provisional Squad: Gomes, Janmaat, Mariappa, Masina, Kiko, Navarro, Wilmot, Sema, Chalobah, Quina, Success, Dahlberg, Holebas, Cathcart, Doucoure, Hughes, Gray, Folivi
