Mike Tyson...

During his prime, Mike was the most feared and ducked fighter there has ever been. His power was relentless and his rage unparalleled. Being a massive boxing fan and participant, I've always idolized Mikes tremendous power and his ferocious tenacity to take someones head clean off. I want to share with Steemit Mikes top 5 most devastating KO's during that era. He was the Punisher. Enjoy the Blog!

#5. Tony Tubbs - March, 1988

During Tysons reign on the Heavyweight Division he traveled to Tokyo City to take on Former Champion Tony Tubbs. Tubbs made it through the first round without much of an issue and even landed a solid blow in the second. It wouldn't take Tyson long to land a tremendous left hook from hell to send Tubbs tumbling toward the ropes.

#4. Francois Botha - January, 1999

After being suspended and out of the ring for 19 months after the famous "Ear Biting Incident". Tyson returned against the well known powerhouse Botha. Tyson didn't bring much in the first 4 rounds, losing decisively when then out of nowhere the Tyson of old shower up for a brief moment and took Botha's soul with a clean right hand to the chin. Botha could not regain his feet, unable to make the count.

#3. Larry Holmes - January, 1988

The Hall of Famer, Holmes, coming off a 2 year lay off was put against Tyson in his prime. A grave mistake of Holmes to take this fight. Tyson dominated the entire bout and took his head clean off, in typical Tyson fasion. The power he generates is incredible and unmatched by many. It was ferocious.

#2. Trevor Berbick - November 1986

On this day the prophecy of Cus D'Amato became true when Tyson defeated Berbick to become the World Heavyweight Champion. Tyson did so in dominating fashion, essentially getting 3 knockdowns with a single punch. First Berbick was rocked and fell from the hook, then tried to get up but was too wobbled and crashed again, followed his final attempt where he tried to get up, stumbled across the ring and fell to the ground. That's when the fight was stopped.

#1. Michael Spinks - June, 1988

The Apex of Tysons Career, the richest fight in History when it happened. With bad blood between them, people expected this fight to be a war. It wasn't. Tyson absolutely dominated Spinks and KO'd him unconcious within 91 seconds. It almost seemed Spinks was petrified in this fight, and I would have been too!

Final Thoughts...

Mike Tyson was a true champion. His power was ferocious. If it wasn't for his issues outside the ring and the demons that plagued him, who knows what he could have accomplished. Mike had an anger deep within, he had an abusive childhood and was abandoned time and time again as a youngster. It was only as a teen when he was adopted by D'Amato where his life turned around. Although he had found a family and direction in boxing, he was always plauged by those mental demons of his past as a child and one can only imagine what he went through. Boxing saved his life, just like it saved mine and that's why I wanted to dedicate this post to him. Thank you for reading, it means LOTS.
