Last House on Holland Island. (USA)

Holland Island is a marshy, rapidly eroding island in the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland. The island was once inhabited by watermen and farmers, but has since been abandoned.
Unfortunately the house collapsed into the bay in 2010.

Hashima Island. (Japan)

While the island is a symbol of the rapid industrialization of Japan, it is also a reminder of its dark history as a site of forced labor prior to and during the Second World War. The Island was known for its undersea coal mines, established in 1887.

Qiandao Lake was created in 1959 when the valley at the base of the Wu Shi (Five Lion) mountain was flooded to create the Xin'anjiang Reservoir and Xin'an River hydroelectric station.
It is believed the city of Shi Cheng (also known as Lion City) was built during the Tang Dynasty in 621 AD, making it nearly 1,400 years old. Based on records of the region’s history, it is thought to be quite large, possibly over 60 football fields, and featured 265 arches throughout the city.

The Buzludzha Monument / Communist Party HQ. (Bulgaria)

Buzludzha is a historical peak in the Central Balkan Mountains, Bulgaria and is 1,432 metres (4,698 feet) high. In 1868 it was the place of the final battle between Bulgarian rebels and the Ottoman Empire. Buzludzha Monument was built on the peak by the Bulgarian communist regime. It commemorated the events of 1891, when a group of socialists assembled secretly in the area to form an organised socialist movement that led to the founding of the Bulgarian Social Democratic Party.

Pripyat is a ghost town in northern Ukraine. Tens of thousands were evacuated from the city of Pripyat following the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986.
