GULF CRISIS: Trump Sends 1,000 Troops To Middle East Over Iran
THE US has authorised the deployment of around 1,000 troops to the Middle East following attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman.
The move came after repeated attacks on Oil Tankers that Washington blames on Iran – a hostile state that has been in a ‘state of war’ with the United States for over forty years.
Acting U.S. Defence Secretary Patrick Shanahan said the decision followed “hostile behaviour” by Iranian forces.
IRAN WRITTEN ALL OVER IT
Trump said that Iran was behind the attacks on Oil Tankers telling Fox & Friends “Iran did do it, and you know they did it because you saw the boat.”
“I guess one of the mines didn’t explode and it’s probably got, essentially, Iran written all over it.”
Trump also told Good Morning Britain earlier this months that there’s ‘always a chance’ of military action with Iran over the rogue states hostile actions against the U.S.
Shanahan approved the request from U.S. Central Comand ‘CENTCOM’ to send extra troops.
Yesterday, it was claimed by the United States that Iran had moved to increase Uranium enrichment levels breaking a limit set by the Iranian Nuclear deal.
The Iranian Nuclear deal has clearly failed – a deal that Trump pulled out off – sparking a diplomatic rift between Western countries.
'WE DO NOT WANT WAR'
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Sunday that the United States did not want a war with Iran.
Pompeo will meet with the Middle East U.S. commander in Florida today, where Trump will also be holding a rally.
Many believe that there will not be a ‘land war’ between the U.S. and Iran, and any battle will take place in the air and the sea, many believe that any action between the U.S. and Iran won’t be like Iraq or Afghanistan.
Some commentators have suggested that action could be similar to the airstrikes made by former U.S. President Ronald Reagan in the mid-1980s in which he successfully bombed Libya.
YEARS OF TENSIONS
Iran has been one of the rogue states of the world for over forty years and has actively been in a state of war with the USA since 1979.
The ‘Number one state sponsor of terrorism’ has previously attempted to bomb the U.S. embassy in Baghdad and has injured American troops in Kabul.
They have also previously sabotaged U.S. tankers and commentators have described Iran as ‘spreading war to the Middle East’.
Many feel that only Trump can solve the crisis – as previous administrations have failed repeatedly to resolve the diplomatic and military crisis between the two nations.
