COURT DELAY: Tommy Robinson Contempt Case ‘Adjourned’ Until May

TOMMY Robinson’s ‘contempt’ case at the Old Bailey that was due to take place on the 22nd March relating to contempt of court has been adjourned until at least May.

The activist, who was unlawfully jailed last year will have more charges brought against him in May after the British Government deemed it was ‘the public interest’ to do so.

The activist was set to face contempt of court proceedings AGAIN, for reporting on the case of a Muslim grooming gang in Leeds last year, in which he was unlawfully jailed behind a cloak of secretiveness and a media ban, which Politicalite broke to bring out the news of his jailing to the people.

Britain’s Attorney General, Geoffrey Cox QC MP, concluded in early March that Robinson, 36 would face proceedings for contempt of court that is punishable by up to two years in prison, and/or a fine.

Tommy vowed to contest the ruling, “along with the support of the British public” he said on earlier this month.

“I am innocent. I broke no law,” said Tommy.

He added: “How is this in the public interest? This is ongoing state persecution of a journalist who exposes the Government, the establishment and all of their wrongs.”

He also asked why Mr Cox had taken so long to make the decision.

“I walked out of prison for this six months ago. What’s taken him five months? And then it’s going to take them another five months to get me into court. Another five months before a trial.”

The contempt of court case was referred to the Attorney late last year, by Nicholas Hilliard QC, the Recorder of London.

Robinson, 36, was jailed in May for reporting on the trial of a Muslim grooming gang, his jailing was ‘covered up’ by the media after a judge issued a ‘media ban’ on the original proceedings.

His jailing saw ten thousand turn out on the streets of London to protest his sentence and saw violent clashes in the capital.

Robinson’s conviction for contempt of court in Leeds was overturned in August.

Two judges, Lord Chief Justice Burnett and Mrs Justice McGowan, made the ruling.

He was released on bail with no conditions pending a re-trial of the Leeds case, which was referred to the attorney general.

Lord Chief Justice Lord Burnett quashed the contempt of court conviction handed to Tommy in May, which saw him arrested and jailed in just five hours under an Orwellian media ban.
