RE: You Say Tomato, I say Tomato
Wow! They look like they're going to be great! We are just heading into winter here in New Zealand. I've still got a few tomatoes that I brought inside before the frost hit. They're green but getting ripe as each day goes.
I miss summer and growing food!
Oh wow! We are just about to change over to summer here. We run a small, family farm in Kentucky (US) and sell at the local farmers market as well as from the farm.
Do you have a farm or just put out a garden for yourself?
We used to have a small bit of land - enough to run 10 sheep but sold up a couple of years ago and moved to a warmer climate. Now we just have a tiny section, but I'm squeezing in as much vege gardens as I can. I love growing my own food. Especially now. The price of a lettuce here at the moment is $5.50 NZD - around $4 USD. I just wish we could grow more here in the winter. Unfortunately it's far too cold for a lot of crops. Enjoy those tomatoes. They look great!
We raise sheep as well! We have 7 adults and 9 lambs at the moment.
Do you know what a walipini (earth sheltered greenhouse) is? We put one in last year so we can grow year round.
I'll look into one of those to see if it's something we can put in here. Thanks for the advice!
I bet that the lambs are cute!
