Fatty Tuna and Sake

The food in Tokyo is one of the number one reasons to head to this world class city. From fast food to fine dining, you can find pretty much anything you want to eat in Tokyo. Of course, there are tons of sushi restaurants, and it is no secret that the sushi in Tokyo is some of the freshest and best in the world.

When in Tokyo you will probably see Sushi Go Round style restaurants. These establishments have pre mad plates of sushi mounted on a conveyor belt that rotates around the entire restaurant. You will find yourself staring at tons of fresh sushi options rotating right in front of you for the duration of your meal. It's awesome!

The Conveyor of Sushi

All you need to do after being seated is grab what looks good and eat! Ordering food in some Japanese restaurants can be intimidating and difficult if you don't speak Japanese; that's the beauty of Sushi Go Round. You don't have to order anything, just grab and eat. The plates are color coded and correspond to the price of each item. If you want drinks, you will need to order from the staff. When you are done eating, a server will come over, tally your bill and you'll be good to go after you pay. Super easy!

While the idea of conveyor belt sushi may seem gimmicky, these places are not tourist traps. You will see many locals eating right along side you. Probably because the food is good, and inexpensive compared to many other sushi restaurants. had plenty of plates of fatty tuna at less than $4 USD for 2 pieces, that is a good deal anywhere you go, and the quality was fantastic.

If you ever find yourself near one of these restaurants, you may want to pop in for a quick sushi dinner! You won't be disappointed.

Tokyo, one of the top places on my dream travel list. My daughter is the one really pushing for it, and of the many places she has on her wish list, this style of restaurant is on it. Looks like a fun place to eat.

Tokyo is a must for travelers, definitely worth your time!

This certainly brings back memories. My record was 17 plates of sushi in Osaka. Are you currently in Japan? I imagine the trees are looking amazing right now with their Autumn colours. While Japan is known for its cities and tech culture, the scenery is also world-class! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I wish I was there now! I got back a couple of months ago and was scrolling through some of my pictures last night. Your stack looks pretty close to how mine looked, but I didn't actually count. I just know that every time the Toro came back around I was grabbing a couple of them! So delicious!
