Toki Pona The Smallest Language On Earth
Have you ever heared of Toki Pona? Toki Pona is a very interesting Language and I recommend everyone to take a look at the world of Toki Pona.
The special on Toki Pona is that it isn't a natural language, Toki Pona is a designed language which means that there is no one who's native language is Toki Pona, but there are a few hundred people on planet earth who can speak Toki Pona. I'm learning Toki Pona in the moment and I can say that it's really easy, cause Toki Pona is built from only around 120 words. That means that you are very limited about what you can say in Toki Pona, there are for example no times, but this helps you extremly to focus on the thing you want to say cause you have to describe things, because there is no word for it.
Toki Pona was designed by Sonja Lang back in 2001, her goal was the minimalism and in my opinion she reached it!
A little introduction:
(References and links to lessons at the end)
First some basic rules:
In Toki Pona is every letter small except for words that aren't official like names, cities, etc even at the beginning of a sentence every letter is small. And there are no things like commas or different forms of one word. What you say depends on the position of the word in the sentence.
And now some first words:
Mi <-> Me
Sina <-> You
Ona <-> He, she, it
moku <-> Eat, Food, ...
kili <-> Fruit, ...
pipi <-> Bug, insect, ...
lili <-> Small, unimportant, ...
suli <-> Big, important, expensive, ...
jo <-> To have, ...
Building sentences in Toki Pona is very easy, some examples:
I am eating: mi moku
I have a bug: mi jo e pipi
You eat a fruit: sina moku e kili
As you can see, this is very easy. It becomes a bit more hard if you use anything else than me or you:
The bug is food: pipi li moku
The fruit is small: kili li lili
In this case you have to use the little "li".
