Death was my favorite splinter but it seems to need a buff at the moment.
Currently I will have to go with the Earth Splinter

Before the game even began was Earth my favorite splinter. It has become the strongest splinter in the game, which is not good. The Death and Fire splinter need some powerful new cards to change their meta.

I liked Red/Fire when it was playable. Lots of quick destruction and mayhem, fire. Now it is a prison sentence of a quest unfortunately but that will change the game is great about adjusting existing abilities and creating them in line with new ones. It's a very specialized set of rules that the splinter works.
