Topic: Attack & Defence Strategy

Now that battles have begun its time to talk tactics and strategy, not just for players with many planets & big fleets but for smaller space explorers like myself.
I've noticed that so far, almost all the "battles" are simply farming exercises on planets that the owners have basically abandonned.

It seems to me that attacking a planet that is active is fairly pointless as the owner can see the attack coming on SpyColony and the owner has 3 options in terms of

  1. simply spend all the resources before the attacker arrives;
  2. with a low (cheap) cheap level of bunkers spend down to the level that is safe; and/or
  3. with a bit of investment in shield, simply raise them before the attacker arrives.

For an attacker, any planet with charged shields is a definite no go as its a big waste of time and resources to attack and go home with nothing.

Am I right in this analysis?
Is there a way for a fleet to hang around a planet waiting for the shields to run out.
I suppose the attacker could send waves to exhaust the shields but the spend options would still be available and splitting a fleet makes it more vulnerable to defenders and reduces the storage capacity.

If it is so easy to defend a planet, is there any point in big fleets?

Are we just going to become a universe of farmers?

Is there going to be any way to conquer a planet?

Nextcolony is seriously evolving bigtime... The strategies that worked in the beginning cant be so efficient anymore. They also need to evolve.
The game terrain is seriously changing. Now our fears are alien plunderers and invaders. Very soon there will be planetary wars... How will things be then? I wouldnt want my planet caught up inbetween some other planets at war. Hehehehe
