Wow a majority of Americans support a ban on the sale of all tobacco products according to this study. Pretty similar across demographic groups as well. Even among current users ~25% support a ban.

Polling on smokers is really interesting. Most smokers want to quit, and the vast majority wish they never started smoking. Most have also tried to quit smoking. About half of former smokers quit cold turkey. A third of current smokers started smoking when they were younger than 16. The mean age they began smoking was 17.

The amount of Americans that smoke is at an all-time low now. Only ~11% of adults have had a cigarette in the past week.

Another interesting thing about smokers, a third started when they were under 16. The mean age was 17.

I don't support a ban, but I do support tighter regulations. I'm concerned about leaving current addicts in the lurch. It is remarkable though how much more restricted other drugs are compared to tobacco. Alcohol too for that matter. I don't think you'd get a survey of current marijuana users that was as stark as that Gallup polling on cigarette smokers and addiction/desire to quit/desire to never have started.
