A controversy stirred up in Nigeria about tithing when Pastor Paul Adefarasin the head pastor of House on the rock church reacted to a controversial comment by OAP Daddy Freeze , who said no Nigerian Prophet, Pastor or General Overseer, GO, is qualified to receive tithes from their members, a statement that undermined the importance of tithing. Now Pastor Paul's response to Daddy Freeze "admitted that God will no curse anyone, who refused to tithe.“Tithe is a way to show that God is the supplier of your resources. God blesses and I respond with my 10%. It is an honour system, it means the money is not your God. You won’t be cursed if you don’t tithe but when you tithe you are saying you recognise Him and it keeps the cycle moving,” said Paul Adefarasin during a mid-week sermon. “He did not make everyone a preacher, don’t let anyone tell you to take your tithe to charities, elsewhere.” he further said.
Since these statements the whole nation have swung into the arguement if paying tithe is right or wrong or a must.
