Today I learned about Tomas Andrews, a shipbuilder who designed the Titanic, and sailed on her maiden voyage. During the ship's planning, Andrews proposed building the ship with a double wall and 46 lifeboats (instead of 20), but these were rejected.
In his final moments, Andrews had tried to rescue as many of the passengers as possible from the ship to the lifeboats. His body was not found.
