How to Simplify Your Work at Home
Work simplification refers to the systematic and organized use of time and energy. It means planning activities carefully to avoid doing the same thing twice, or to do more with less time. Once the routine has been set, the rest of the work becomes easier.
Principles of Work Simplification
The first principle in work simplification is to maximize the use of time and energy. This principle can be applied to weekend trips to the market, which many Filipino households practice. Make a list of all the things needed by the household before leaving for the market or grocery. To facilitate shopping, group your shopping list into categories such as toiletries, school supplies, groceries and other dry goods, fruits and vegetables, meat, and seafood.

The second principle in work simplification is to avoid problems. This principle may be applied to the household laundry. In doing the laundry, for instance, group the clothes by color and by texture. Separate the pants from the shirts and the white from the colored clothes. Empty all pockets of handkerchiefs, coins, tissue paper, or other such items. Tie together matching socks. Pull off loose buttons and keep them for sewing back on when the clothes have been washed and dried.

The third principle in work simplification is to devise ways that will minimize work. This principle can be applied to the weekend laundry. Soak white clothes in soap and water a day before clothes are to be washed in order to loosen dirt. Hang clothes on hangers and smoothen out creases. This way, you will not need to iron the said clothes. Likewise, when cleaning the house, devise a way so that all the cleaning implements such as the broom, duster, coconut husk or polisher, and dustpan are all within easy reach to save you the trouble of having to go back and forth for each item.
