My top 10 time-lapse films on YouTube/DTube
I am an independent filmmaker with an addiction to all things time-lapse but have never before taken the time to list all my best productions in one place, so without further ado I give you my top ten, in no particular order.
Follow Your Creativity
A poetic take on freedom & creativity. More of a mantra for the way I live my life than anything else.
Esteban's Journey
One photo a day documents the pregnancy period, but creativity abounds in this family and as the expectant baby clothes continued to fill our cupboards I knew I had to include them in some way in this film.
Landmead Solar Farm
My most popular film on YouTube, it documents the building of the UK's largest solar farm.
An African Time-lapse
This is my first complete time-lapse montage, set in Zambia & South Africa, shot using a home made motion control kit.
How I made cool organic designs
While living in Thailand I was asked to design eight logos for a herbal supplement company using ink, smoke & fire.
Camino de Santiago
One of the most important walks of my life because it set me free from a lifetime in the UK. Once I had carried all my possessions on my back for a few months, nothing would ever seem difficult again!
Barcelona
After the Camino I ended up in Barcelona where I spent a month putting together this film, most of it in Gaudi's stunning Park Guell.
How to make a sausage
When a friend asked me to turn his production line into a film, I couldn't resist the challenge and ended up spending a month in this factory perfecting my hyper-lapse techniques.
Singapore: city of clean
I was in Singapore for a few days shooting a perfume commercial but still had the time to document this stunning city in my own way.
The Great Rift
This is not a montage, but a single time-lapse shot of the milky way. Bali provided a unique opportunity during Nyepi, a spiritual night in which no lighting of any kind is permitted.
Bonus film: The King's Piece
I feel no shame when I tell you I spent 10 years shooting porn prior to my liberation. As crazy as it might sound it was an essential part of my ongoing spiritual development. This film is a parody of The King's Speech, cunningly scripted to mimic the original trailer featuring Colin Firth. I did this because I had access to the main location which was used in the film... and I also had access to porn stars!
When the male porn star didn't show up on the day of filming, I stepped in and played the role of the King. All in the name of fun & creativity ;)
