Waste time in a productive way

Wasting time is your biggest enemy when it comes to being productive. We all love watching videos on YouTube, movies or TV shows, checking out memes, constantly seeing what's new, and even talking to different people. The downside of doing all that is that in a lot of situations you'll waste too much time having fun and you won't make enough progress when it comes to your work.

Now, I don't think there is a way to solve that, at least not completely. If you spend time doing unproductive stuff, then there's nothing you can do about it. You just have to relax from time to time, and because of that you should learn how to mange your time and how to focus on your work as much as you need to.

However, if you're a content creator, you could actually find a way to be productive while you waste time. Of course this doesn't mean you can make progress while being on Twitter on Facebook, but you can do something that can help you do more in the future.

Let's say you love spending time on Pinterest or Twitter. You just love to see what people share and what they have to say, and you sometimes spend hours on those websites, doing nothing that would help you move forward.

Well, what you can do, if you create content, let's say writing articles, is look at all the things those websites have to offer and try to constantly come up with ideas for your articles using everything you see.

For example, if you scroll through Pinterest and you see a picture of a stressed person, then a picture of a computer and a person trying to type something on it, then you can write an article using both pictures as inspiration, called "How to not be stressed when writing".

If you see a picture featuring a person who's coding and you know a little about programming, you can write something called "How to not give up when your code doesn't work" or "Not getting it in programming is okay - here's how to solve that problem".

Again, this doesn't mean you'll never have to work again and you can spend as much time as you want doing something fun. You'll still have to write those articles and publish them if you want to achieve something.

But if you're gonna waste your time, then at least do it in a smart way, and try to get something out of it. This applies to a lot more things, like watching movies or play video games. You can always see something that could give you an idea for an article. Even if it's not about writing, and you're a graphic designer or an artist, one scene from a movie or a game can give you that idea you were searching for.
