Surprising FUN facts that foreigners need to know about the Philippines

For those nomad, free-lancer, adventure-seeker , lover of knowledge, wanderer, cultural and language exchange junkie :) We all love to learn interesting facts hence every country is unique, we like to engage on people and enjoy their lifestyle and culture.

Here are some interesting facts of being a Filipino:

 USING YOUR FINGER TO MEASURE RICE WHEN COOKING

RESPECT FOR ELDERS .We have this so-called "Mano Po" wherein the elderly provides blessings to the younger ones.  You have to bow your head, take the hand of the elder and place it on your forehead. 

THE LAST BITE :  You are with Filipinos when he/she refuse to eat the last bite. :D Even though someone was encourage to finish it, some common excuses are : they're full, they give it to someone, they feel okay with the food  :P

KARAOKE : Expect that Filipino will invite you to go and sing the Karaoke, they wouldn't care about your voice. The soul purpose of doing it is pure enjoyment. Jam with them! :)

FILIPINO TIME: Though for some it is inappropriate, some Filipinos  consistently arrive being 30 minutes  to an hour late for event compared to the standard time though they are aware of the exact tine. However, not all Filipinos are late. :) 

BEING GENEROUS : Filipinos offer food to visitors, no matter how little it is.

 

CHANGING  ACCENT DEPENDING TO THE PERSON  YOU'RE TALKING TO. Filipinos can easily adapt the language hence they are a diverse country.

EATING RICE EVERY MEAL (so much carbohydrates ) Noodles and Rice, Spaghetti and Rice :D Do expect that most restaurants served that.

PHILIPPINES HAS THE LONGEST CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION IN THE WORLD -starting from September to the 2nd week of January. Expect  Christmas decor and Christmas Carols. ;) They said it's the best country to celebrate Christmas because everything is festive, you will surely feel its spirit. ^_^

WHEN YOU'RE WITH FILIPINO YOU'RE WITH FAMILY. Elderly people will call you "anak" which means "my child" , people will call you "kuya" which means "elder brother "and "ate" which means "elder sister" in general.

 I am a proud Filipino though I've been to many countries already.  I love the Filipino heart, the love, generosity, passion, smiles, culture,  positive attitude , happy spirit are just heart-touc hing, the values is exceptional. You will feel home. ;-)) 

We are not only rich of the wonderful tourist spots here , but we are also rich with beautiful people. And yes, I am proud to say that  my country , the Philippines is confidently beautiful with  a heart. :)
