Last Friday a co worker notified me that he was going to the Embassy Food festival in The Hague (den Haag) which included a few Filipino .

His son also has a Filipino girlfriend , so i thought it would be fun for my wifey and his girlfriend to be able mingle a bit and feel a bit more home.

So i decided to suprise her with a day out to The Hague . One of the largest cities in Holland.

It was lovely weather so we took the train from my hometown to The Hague. It took us about 1.30 hrs untill we arrived at The Hague central station . We first went to Madurodam. But i will write about that in another story.

After our visit there , we went strawling trough the city. Looking for the food festival , where i arranged a meeting with my co worker , his family and his filipino girlfriend.

My wifey @fernwehninja was still unaware about meeting a fellow Filipina 😃

After half an hour walking we arrived at the food market .

But because they already were there for a while , and were drinking some coffee at a cafe we sadly didn't saw so much of the food market .

After a while we found the cafe they were at , so i could finally introduce her to the family and her new Filipina friend .

After we drank our coffee , there was still one surprise left.

Dinner at the only Filipino restaurant in Holland.

Named Baryo Pilipinas

On our way there we walked in two lola's with : It's more fun in the Philippines written on their t-shirts , so of course they started chatting with each other 😃 .
They were very sweet and helpful people. And they just finished cooking Lumpia's at the food market.

After they finished chatting and exchanged numbers , we continued our walk to the restaurant.

Once we arrived at the restaurant we already noticed it was packed with Filipino people . We didn't have a reservation , so we had to wait 45 minutes before we finally got a table.

And people. It was worth the wait.

We tried to order a full Boodle fight menu. Sadly this wasn't possible cause we needed a reservation for that. So we decided to order a kind of mini Boodle fight.

This was supposed to be a 2 person dish . But it was easily enough for 3 people hehe. It were huge platters filled with traditional Filipino foods , like crab , shrimp , chicken , pork and more and it looked amazing.

Time to attack , eating with our hands in the true Filipino style of course.

We got served some filipino San Miguel beer to make the experience complete and my wife took a ube shake , which tasted delicious.

This was also the first time for me to see a Jeepney. This was part of the decoration of the restaurant which was pretty awesome 😃

All in all it was a great experience and a lovely evening.

My wife was really happy and the smile on her face was priceless. She ate so much she could barely walk back to the trainstation 😂 .

We all had a great time , and were very pleased with the food and i would definitely love to go back to the restaurant some day for a full boodle fight. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely as well.

Of course my wife wanted to take a picture under her flag together with her new friend.

Two proud Filipina's !

I loved the experience , and i cannot wait till have the boodle fight in the Philippines .

We all went home happy and with full belly's .

I hoped you all enjoyed reading my story , and to all dutch people reading this , i highly recommend you visiting this restaurant .
