A device that instantly translates in English, Chinese and Japanese- TIL

in #til7 years ago (edited)

January is the most important month for the players in technology. Technology companies and gadget enthusiasts go into the desert, to Las Vegas, the place for the largest technology exhibition in the world, Consumer Electronics Show

CES is the place to present innovative technologies and some of them become mass products such as the VCR ( video recorder ) or others fail miserably as Apple Pippin ( a device half computer and half a game console).

In recent years, the show is dominated by Asian companies, since Apple, Microsoft, or Amazon decided to organize their own events, where they present their products. This year in Las Vegas, most exhibitors have come up with products for the smart home. Although mobile phones and TVs are among the most popular products, but, they don't grow sufficiently fast as devices that connect to the Internet.

Systems that are monitoring health

Samsung have introduced a prototype called Welt that looks like a normal belt. It can record information about the user's waist size, eating habits, but also about the time he spends sitting. These data are directed to an application that analyzes them and provides a personal health improvement.

Oakley and Intel presented Radar Pace:

Intelligent glasses that have a real-time training system, activated by voice. The intelligen glasses are designed to provide to runners, cyclists and athletes feedback and analysis straight away, helping them to improve performance and track progress in real time.

Robots and drones of the future ( not @the-future)

Intel presented a Segway from Ninebot that it can transform into a robot. The platform uses the new Intel RealSense ZR300 camera to navigate in complex environments and to interact smart with users and home sensors, being fueled by an Intel Atom. Segway plans is to make the robot commercially available, and will initially introduce a development kit in the second half of this year.

One of the most useful gadgets launched in 2016 at CES was Lagbar ILI, a device that instantly translates in English, Chinese and Japanese, without needing an internet connection and Bluetooth. The user only needs to keep a button pressed when is speaking and the unit automatically translate words.

At CES were present electric cars, which represent the future, the most impressive being the model of the Faraday Future. FFZero one concept is fully electric and has 1,000 horsepower.

The consumer electronics show (ces) 2017 will take part from 5-8 january!

It's very interesting post...
Thank you for sharing dear@the-future :)

Thank you, @djsonic! Glad you enjoyed!

I would have loved to have a Segway when I was younger, My knees couldn't manage these days :) Dare to think what will be invented in another 50 years

I think there are a lot of interesting and helpful things that we don't know about and of course, are too expensive for us!

I totally agree

Sorry to hear that you have knees problems!

Massive problem can hardly walk

That's not good! I'm really sorry for that!

Its not good but I have to live with it

translator device with need for network connection is useful for places where connection is not easily available but many places are very well connected nowadays. So, I'll still bet against the success of the device as I don't see much demand for it

I don't know how many people will need that, but you never know! Cheers Ace!
