TIL eSTEEM user notifications
Today I was reading a post by @surpassinggoogle and doing the best I could to answer some of the questions about SteemIt that were asked.
When answering in a comment I mentioned that @good-karma has been working on eSteem fixes to be rolled out soon. I saw his post for the iOS update today. He previously had told me in another reply that the Android fixes should be out soon. Well, to my surprise as well as that of @surpassinggoogle about the user being notified of the mention in a post being notified we found the answer. At least for the eSteem app the notification is working when a user is mention as seen here in the screen shot I made from the conversation.

I've been thinking for a while now, that tagging a user should send them a notification, but as a spam busting option, could each individual set the minimum rep or SP required to be notified of a mention?
If a lvl 70 is talking about me or somebody with over 100,000 SP, I want to know about it.
If a hundred lvl 30's are mentioning Ned and Dantheman each day, that's going to get old quick.
A slider would do it.
I've previously suggested the same for commenting privileges. OP should be able to set a minimum rep for commenters. More detail here:

Sorry I did not get back sooner. Your right that would be a great feature for the notifications.
Of note is, I think steemians will need to go settings to the app to turn on these notification. I was able to turn my on by going to settings
Yes, most functionality of the app is yet to be discovered by users. But I have also started #esteem-features where I will touch briefly the features and talk about them to bring awareness.
Nice once your update goes through for the Andriod I will take pics and post about the features then to help with awareness like I did for the SteemVerify. That will be a fun project I can do to help out.
Are the features the same on both iOS and Andriod?
Yes they are mostly same! Tomorrow latest, update should be available..

So basically they have to have the app and when they have turned on notification in the settings, it pushes the notification to your device. And amazing too and really it is first time I know this, that people how much in terms of percentage they used in upvoting you. The notfication shows that instantly and I noticed that in the settings there is a slider for upvote percentage. Coincidentally too, just after getting on the app and turning notfication on, I started getting upvote on my other post of today that was stuck all day without upvote, I think it was 4upvotes in 8hours, now suddenly it is getting upvotes and I am getting notified and upon checking the post now, it has more than 40. I wonder what happened
I bet due to my post where I mentioned you caused some to look at your other blogs possibly. That is one benefit of adding user names to a post, others will follow the link to see what they have done. I also usually follow the new person as well.

HI @smysullivan, do you know what this may mean? payout for my post of yesterday that we had some conversation on, it says promotion cost 7$ in 3hours. Do you know what that could mean? I haven't used the promote post feature
Looking at it and I have never seen that before I have no clue what it means.
yep, thank you for checking. it is funny cos the time as increased now from 3 hours of before to 7hours now, now it says promotion cost 7$ in 7 hours!
Thought it might help, so far not sure yet.
