What can a dog eat and never eat?
While trying to adopt a puppy reading from my Christmas gifts: Siberian Husky I had to read up on what can a dog eat and never eat. While I visited a friend in the townships came across a dog with its hair falling off which some describe as Alopecia.
They say that dog ate raw fish with its bones.
The question that remained was...is raw fish good or bad for dogs?
According to Yahoo Answers:
I believe your dog should be fine. As long as the fish wasn't out for many hours. Dogs can eat fish in small amounts, if your dog ate a lot of fish then you may want to bring him to the vet, because raw fish has enzymes which breaks down vitamin, B2 which can cause a vitamin deficiency. Otherwise if it was just a little bit of fish then your dog should be fine.
Well according WebMD :
fish can have bacteria that causes food poisoning. Some fish such as salmon, trout, shad, or sturgeon can also have a parasite that causes "fish disease" or "salmon poisoning disease." It's treatable, but get help right away. The first signs are vomiting, fever, and big lymph nodes.
Some of the food a dog should never eat are avocados, grapes, onions, peaches, chocolates and believe it or not drinking coffee.
Well I also learned that a dog can safely eat:
apples, oranges, bananas, and watermelon
Any other suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks for the reminder of safe foods. Always good to know. I'll have to check out the fish claim. I think that only applies to spoiled or sick fish, not fresh.
Oh, and they can't have coffee for the same reason as the chocolate - both have caffeine. Avoid caffeine for them in other foods, too, and your pet will be grateful.
