Can you hold your breath for six weeks?

Crabs have the amazing ability to hold their breath for 6 weeks...Yes 6 weeks...Well let me explain.

Like the sand crab, they do it by holding oxygen in their air bags situated close the gills as can be seen on below picture of the anatomy. It will then sometimes draw water from moist sand or seawater to make its gills moist.

The stored oxygen comes in handing during hibernation in winter.
