Gliese 710 is 64 light-years away and on a collision course with our solar system!

So get your calendars out and mark the date, as we all could get swiped by a loose Comet from the Oort Cloud in 1.35 million years.

Now 1.35 million years might seem a long time for some.
But in Galactic terms it's like "The Day After Tomorrow," or another good movie with Morgan Freeman as the President.

We should, by then, if all goes well, be out there in the Expanse mining the Asteroid Belts.

So Earth taking a few hits for the Solar System Team will be quite OK for the Belters.

But take note, Gliese 710, is a name that will go down in Infamy.

A star known to be on a collision course with our solar system will come even closer than first thought, a new study has discovered.
Data captured by the European Space Agency's Gaia observatory has shown that hydrogen-burning main-sequence star Gliese 710 could come close enough to cause major comet strikes.
As a result, it will appear as both the brightest and fastest object in the night sky.

Detailing their findings in a paper published by the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics, co-authors Filip Berski and Piotr Dybczński from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland revealed the star's minimum distance to our solar system will be almost five times closer than previously thought.
It will likely travel through the Oort Cloud, a shell of icy objects and long-period comets that circle our solar system.
