The Banach–Tarski Paradox - Space Time And Trying To Divide The Indivisible

in #til7 years ago

As well as trying to write the ultimate Apocalypse Book and a rip roaring Space Cowboy Opera.

I tend to watch videos that bend my brain.

Take this video fro PBS Digital Studios called.

"Are Space and Time An Illusion?"

Now this is what I would call Clickbait in the Master class.

I had to watch it. and glad I did.

I cannot say I understood it all.

But it bent my thought waves and that is always a good thing.

Another Video in this line starts out about Chocolate and then wanders off into the realms of Infinity

The Banach–Tarski Paradox

A Video about mind bending maths, Infinity and infinity + 1

But mostly what interests me is the continuing endeavors of the,

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC)

The world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator.

This is basically a large hammer smashing up bits of our universe.

And then checking to see what falls out.

As far as I can see. This is a thankless task.

We keep sub dividing the particles into smaller and smaller parts.

And I personally do not believe they will ever arrive at the end game.

That final particle, which says this is it.

The last piece of the infinite puzzle.

Like the Mandelbrot Set I believe it will go on forever.

Anyway here is the latest glimpse of infinity from

what the BBC once mistakenly called "The Large Hardon Collider"

Read On:

Scientists discover a new type of particle using the Large Hadron Collider that could open a 'new frontier' in physics.

The particle is part of a family of 'doubly charmed baryons' predicted to exist
Previous attempts to detect the particles have been inconclusive
But researchers at the Large Hadron collider were able to detct more than 300
The findings open a new frontier in understanding 'strong force' which holds the centres of atoms together

The particle, which the scientists have named Xi-cc++, was discovered using the Large Hadron Collider.
While the particles were predicted to exist, this is the first time that scientists have been able to confirm their existence.
The discovery could shed new light on the 'strong force' which holds the centres of atoms together.

Researchers, led by the University of Glasgow, discovered the Xi-cc++ particle at the Large Hadron Collider beauty experiment (LHCb) at CERN.
The particle is part of a family of 'doubly charmed baryons' that were predicted to exist by the Standard Model theory of particle physics.
While previous attempts to detect the particles have been unsuccessful, the Glasgow researchers were able to collect data on more than 300 Xi-cc++ particles.
According to the Standard Model, the most basic particles can be broken down into fermions and bosons.
Fermions can then be broken down further into two categories – leptons and quarks.
Quarks come in six known 'flavours' – up, down, charm, strange, top and bottom.
And baryons – such as Xi-cc++, are particles made up of three quarks.
