Today I learned

about Subliminal Advertising
.

Actually I’ve known about it for a long time. It has to do with avoiding your attention. Notice that today’s TV shows and certain web pages are “busy”. Fox for example, or CNN or almost any thing on TV. In the center of the screen will be the ‘main attraction’..be it talking heads, a weather map, or a ‘man on the scene’. At the same time, to the sides possibly and almost certainly at the bottom of the screen there will be ‘banners’, and ‘ticker tape’ scrolling.

Information overload. Too MUCH Information to process...right?

Wrong.

Information overload for sure. You can only ‘process’ what you can focus on, what you pay attention to. You can only use your discretionary thinking and skills of critical analysis on that which you consciously focus on. Other stuff slips into your mind below your level of awareness.

A big lie (German: große Lüge) is a propaganda technique. The expression was coined by Adolf Hitler, when he dictated his 1925 book Mein Kampf, about the use of a lie so "colossal" that no one would believe that someone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously."

His minister of propaganda also said.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it

You don’t have to notice something to hear it. If you are constantly bombarded, over and over, while you attention is focused on something else...your unconscious mind will hear what they say...and believe.

How else do you think Donald Trump got elected? (hint, five billion dollars of free advertising by the networks didn’t hurt)

That’s why I don’t watch TV. The bandwidth is too large. I can’t filer what is shove into my mind. I can’t focus analyze the information if I’m not consciously aware of it. Instead, I get my information from low bandwidth sources. I read books and I am very selective about what I access on the internet. If a website is ‘too busy’, I cut and run.

Richard Dawkins coined the term ‘meme’. A ‘meme’ is the mental analog to the biological gene.

It get’s into your head....and you lose control.

Another way is when you see a lot of spinning wheels within wheels on the screen, they enter you into a hypnotic state combined with the Alpha state your TV has induced in you. This gives the subliminal content almost direct access to your subconscious. Also I'm reminded of an early experiment they did at movies theaters decades ago. They inserted a single frame of a picture of coke, bucket of popcorn, hot dog and a caption telling them to enjoy these items at the snack bar, just one frame...the other group didn't have the frame inserted. Result, the ones the inserted the frame in experiences a 25% increase in sales in...you guessed it.... Coke popcorn and hot dogs the ones that did not have the frame in had normal sales. This was just one frame up for a fraction of a second that the audience wasn't even aware of

There is a reason they call them TV programs o.o
