CuttleFish
Today I learned about CuttleFish
Actually I learned about them some time ago while doing research for my serialized novel TEOTWAWKI (You might want to begin at the first episode if you should decide to read it.)
CuttleFish are awesome. For me I'm damn glad that they are SMALL. Imagine one the size of a giant squid or a blue whale?
Brain Size (# of Neurons)
- Sperm Whale = 50 billion
- Human = 23 billion
- Chimp = 6.2 billion
- Octopus = 500 million
the cuttle fish should have a brain size similar to that of it's cousin, the octopus. - Pig = 450 million
- Cat = 300 million
- Dog = 160 million
HOWEVER....speculation on my part Ravens and Crows are much smarter than would be expected if only considering their brains size. Possibly something similar might apply to CuttleFish?
Reminds me of the novel Postsingular by Rudy Rucker where cuttlefish play an important role in the plot.
I'll have to read that now. I haven't read any Rucker in decades.
