TIL: The Chances of You Coming Across an Unpaved Roadway in The U.S is 36%... While in The U.K its 0%!steemCreated with Sketch.

According to CIA (which has an online accessible list of countries and their paved roads information) along with several other map and world country information websites (most likely all from the same source) its true. The big difference between the United Kingdom and its perfect record (if I may call it that) and the United States failing grade is the distance of actual roadways Listed Below so this is understandable.

United States
total: 6,586,610 km
paved: 4,304,715 km (includes 76,334 km of expressways)
unpaved: 2,281,895 km

United Kingdom
total: 394,428 km
paved: 394,428 km (includes 3,519 km of expressways)

One thing IDLT ( I didn't learn today ) was what actually qualifies as a roadway OR road network... Comment below if you happen to know and ill add yet another TIL right below the comment :P

Yes this link does go to the CIA website so if your not interesting in visiting it I understand... But here it is all the same. It is a very interesting set of data to tell you the truth. And here is that same information (I believe) in a map view http://chartsbin.com/view/37627

Well thanks for stopping in!
Also I may continue to be a bit lacking in the posting, commenting, and overall usual activity department... the holidays are just killing me on time in both social and business fronts.

Makes me wonder if the British have more money budgeted for transport matters than the Americans.:-)

did you happen to notice that the US has over six MILLION miles of roads while the UK only has 300K?

And a lot more land and people whom I guess contributed more taxes in American but that does not really mean anything. :-) I think different countries have different priorities at different time.

True...my priority is steak and beer...
