TIL weird ERROR msg when posting - Login screen too long - Refreshed fixed it
I wanted to do this, to help out as others have helped me, I am not the most skilled guy online and openly regularly admit this.
Today I learned:
That this weird error message I have seen a couple times on here seems to mean I have had the "Submit New Post" page open too long.
trx.ref_block_prefix == tapos_block_summary.block_id._hash[1]:
It could be hours, it could be minutes... I am not sure, I have worked on a post for 2-3 hours before in the same window, left it up/open and eventually hit submit and it was fine. This window was open less than 30 mins this time.
Seemingly, it shows up when you hit the "Submit Post" button to publish. Either in comments you make, or when submitting a blog post.
I am not sure if it does this in all browsers or not. I use different browsers for different things I work on, all day long.
I researched this error message online. I used the search engine inside Steemit linked to (ugh, globalist) Google
I copied all my work to a new page first, in case the data dumped, then hit the refresh button on the page I was openly working on (in Steemit / submit New Post) page.
- My entire post showed right up in full, which was great!
.... and I hit submit and it worked fine, went right thru and published.
You may have to renavigate to the page you are trying to use, and then you should be able to post without this error.
-- If that fails, perhaps log out and log back in which should really fix it if these other steps fail.
I am hopeful this helps someone down the road, I am sure it might!
I do all my posts in Word. Sometimes I'm in and out of them for days. Then it only takes a few minutes to copy into Submit a Post, do a visual check and Post!
Great points, I have saved them similarly in other programs when I started as I was nervous like a long tailed cat in a room of rocking chairs but not a lot of problems overall. Luckily for me. I get frustrated easy lol.
I started all my first posts here initially on my WP blog - it was causing issues but then again I am not a tecchie like I said.

I just usually hit the brower's back button, and the the forward button to re-enter the Submit a Story page. It always seems to save my work.

This exact same thing has happened to me too @barrydutton. I hit the refresh button and it clears.

You mean it comes BACK like I was saying in my post right?? Not that it clears your work I hope!

Every time I have received that error code, I hit my page refresh button. The screen clears entirely while it's re-loading but my work is always saved and restored. I have yet to loose a post and I think the system will save a post without you having to leave your computer running but don't quote me on this because I haven't tested my theory on this yet. I have been working on a post before over 24 to 48 hours and just left the window open with my computer turned on and I have never lost my work. I do think it is wise to back up text in a word document just in case. Especially, if it's a super long post.

I agree, with that, entirely. I was so shocked when I refreshed the page and all my stuff just appeared right back, good to go LOL.
