ThursdayGreen - Authochthonous Forest Day

For me forest means authochthonous (native) plant species and it also means GREEN!!

(it can also mean a place where I can expect to find a gnome, but that is even more difficult!)

23th November is the Authochthonous Forest Day aimed to promote the conservation of natural forests

This day was launched in alternative to World Forestry Day (March 21), which was initially created for the Northern Europe countries. Given the specific weather conditions of Spain and Portugal (Mediterranean climate), this is the best time of the year to begin seeding or planting trees.

To celebrate this day (and because I can't participate in planting actions, not today), I'm sharing some photos of a native forest (or forest formation) that is getting rarer:

Ash woodland!!
Ash (Fraxinus angustifolia) forests are not easy to find because they grow on fertile soils, which are used for agriculture purposes...I know, I know, we need to eat, but we also need other type of ecosystem services !
