My ThrowbackThursday Entry-FOOD & NUT PRACTICAL.

Back then in secondary school, apart from CRS, IRS, Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa, we had to choose between Agric Science or Food & Nutrition.
By some mysterious kind of stereotype, Agric science was for the real men, but Food and Nut was perceived to be a subject for the feminine type of men.
To us back then, the topics treated in the class had everything to do with females and home making. Majority of us didn't want anything to do with it. But some people went for that subject, aided by the idea that it was easy to score high grades there.
The decision to go for that subject however made them easy target for our taunts. We sometimes almost made them regret their choice. While we were looking for weeds and botanical names, they were looking for different pieces of cloth. Whilst we were studying, they were sewing, and we taunted them more.
Little did we know that the day of reckoning was coming.
The day of Food and Nutrition practicals.
That was the day they were to cook different meals - scratch that, different sweet smelling and tasty meals.
It was difficult to resist, and that was when we realized our folly and started to parley with them to become friends again.
Some of them were angelic enough to declare a truce, but many others remained headstrong.
On the D-day, we were lurking around their hall as they cooked under the supervision of the teachers. The aroma of rice and stew, jollof, moi-moi and many other nice meals filled the air, and hunger erupted in us like a volcano.
To our amazement, when they finished, they were not allowed to come out of the hall. The supervisors asked them to eat of their labour.
We stood out, looking helpless and hungry. We salivated and begged with our eyes, but nothing happened. That day, I felt what Esau went through when he decided to sell his birthright to Jacob. Life was unfair to that dude mheeeen!
When the students had their fill, the hungry supervisors, who had hitherto eaten, packed the rest of the meal in big coolers. They came prepared for the occasion.
We watched as good tasty meal passed us by, and returned to our hostels with pangs of hunger and anger!
Trust us, we meted out the frustration on the nearest junior students, and when the food and nut students returned to the hostel...
Your guess is as good as mine.
