A special unit of the CIA under the leadership of Mitch Rapp finds frightening information during an operation in Afghanistan. Everything indicates that a devastating nuclear attack is planned against Washington. The authorities can prevent the dirty bombs from being smuggled into the USA at the last moment. The deadly cargo was found and taken out of circulation. The nuclear terrorist attack is obviously prevented, and the responsible secret services and politicians breathe a sigh of relief.

For Mitch Rapp, however, the whole thing seems like a gigantic diversionary manoeuvre, and he begins to investigate on his own. And as it turns out, not without good reason, the White House is stormed by terrorists who threaten to kill dozens of hostages. The White House leadership with the President can first find a safe place in a bunker in the basement of the White House. The CIA's best agent Mitch Rapp gains access to the White House and tries to save the hostages and the president from the terrorists.
