--Caller wonders if there's anything Trump can do that would cause his base to turn against him

What do you think?

I think if you take the theory that is the symptom not the cause and that the antics of intersectionality, cancel culture, blame culture and the desire for larger government programs created a "base" that wanted trump to be the "screw you" president ... then you could say that small vocal minority not getting as much airtime and far left types like the squad loosing their influence... and a more normal candidate running for office would probably cause his base to turn more against him.
But then again I know very very few if any people that I'd consider the trump base... so i don't know these things.
I just know lots that are more worried about aoc, warren, sanders, talib, schiff types than they are the moral ineptitude of trump... But maybe we should be worried about both things?

Didn't he once famously say that he could shoot someone on Park Avenue in broad daylight and still get away with it?

I think the quieter Trump supporters will be leaving him at the moment, the ones who genuinely thought that he was an uncorruptable business man who'd make a good President. They will leave him now because it's obvious that he is not only corrupt, but quite mad as well.

The rabid followers, the ones who believe Qanon is real, they will stay with him till the end of time.

Maybe a rational, non-communist, Democrat party would sway some people considering that's where a lot of us originated. But, the left continue to demonize the disaffected former D voters because they're not "progressive" or regressive enough.

If you think that Democrats are communists then you have no idea what communism is

They're definitely on their way there. A blind man could see it. Obama would be a pariah if he ran his 2008 or 2012 campaign today because he's not far left enough. Sorry, if you prefer the word socialist, they're the same thing as far as I'm concerned.

"The goal of socialism is communism." - V. Lenin

And that's a shame. Because I know a lot of people that support some things like universal healthcare but refuse to vote D because of the SJW identity politics, open borders, healthcare for illegals, loan debt forgiveness (aka. absolving of responsibility) etc. Hell, I'd probably vore for Tulsi if she were to get the nomination. She's still a little too left for my taste, but preferable to the rest of the lot by far. But, she won't so it's Trump.

Norway is mostly to the left of Bernie Sanders, and it is neither a Communist nor a Socialist country. So no, the Democratic party is not "on its way there".

You also forget that Trump won the Republican primary mainly due to his own left-leaning populism where he said he would expand on medicare, end "free trade" agreements, etc.

I posted down below about how I'm a registered Democrat and voted Trump. And yes the Democrats are on their way there. There are already some self-proclaimed socialists in office and plenty of others seeking it. Trump is a former Democrat. He does have some left leanings like you mentioned and definitely plays the populist card, but there's no way he could identify with the American left today because theyve become so radical. It's a very small minority of people shifting the party which is a sad thing.

And I'm glad you say Norway isn't a socialist country because a lot of people here think it is for some reason. But, I'd argue Sanders and definitely a lot of his disciples are further left than Norway by quite a bit. And I'm not sure how Bernie is the measurement of how far left the Democrats are considering there's others a lot further down the socialism line than him. He's trying to play keep-up these days.

I think many will abandon him, he is sounding even crazier than he already did, something I didn't think was possible. Also to maintain people's loyalty you have to show loyalty, and the turkey situation shows he has none.

Those counseling against impeachment say it will only rile up #Trump’s famous “base.” But guess what? That base is only about a quarter of the country and many one-time #Trump voters have grave doubts about him & his claims. They’re not diehards.

At the end it all boils down to the fact that there are people who just love Trump and there's is the driving force, thanks for really pointing that out while talking to that caller. Like you mentioned former presidents who recovers well. It boils down to that Democrat and republican thingy at the end. Nice to see you back again.

You don't think it has anything to do with the Democrat party not fielding one single candidate that isn't a communist/socialist or HRC-type crony? A lot of Trump supporters are former Democrats like myself. But, the D party isn't even recognizable compared to 2008 or 2012. I actually voted for Obama once. But, if he ran his same campaign now, they would eat him alive for not being far enough left. Even he campaigned on border control and a lot more conservative positions compared to what's going on now.

But, they're just sealing the deal on another 4 years of Trump. So, whatever I guess.

Tulsi Gabbard would be a great choice.

If he did a complete 180 and started rubber stamping all liberal agenda items then they'd turn. Otherwise, it is like asking if your favorite sports team could do bad enough in one season for you to switch teams.

@davidpakman, In my opinion Core Of Politics is Divide and Rule, and politicians do it at it best.

It's easy to spread Virus but the most difficult aspect is, this virus stays among people for years in the form of Hatred.

I think that going forward Game Of Politics will going to become more dark. Stay blessed and stay safe.
