I really have wonder about you sometimes. There was never any intent upon an arrest, the intent was upon murder.
Furthermore if there was any intent bent on intentions it was, as my speculating is just as good as yours or any other for that matter, is Turkey would give up Khashoggi's in exchange for sanctions being lifted, Trump would get the release of the minister and Saudi Arabia, of course, got Khashoggi. Which the release and lifting of sanctions came days within the murder. So yes if there was an underhanded deal it has way long been signed, sealed and delivered.
Logically Turkey wouldn't use such evidence if it existed as leverage over Trump as if Trump went down so does Turkey and the sanctions would be on again....and for a long, long time. It simply wouldn't be worth it to them to throw a few bombs over into Syria.
If you want my opinion on the matter, as again it's just as good an opinion as any other for there is so much we will never know, that is that intelligence was telling them that Baghdadi was hiding among the Kurds, more than likely the YPG branch of the Kurds, with a high likelihood some within the Kurdish community, particularly the YPG, might have been concealing his whereabouts.....and why wouldn't they for as long as Baghdadi was still out there so would the protection of US forces protecting the Kurds. Hence what could be the real meaning of needing an "attitude adjustment" from Trump came into play as one of Trump's campaign promises was to end ISIS. If that's within the realm of possibilities there'd be no hesitation from Turkey to be given an opportunity to lob an attitude adjustment towards the Kurds, these sorts of opportunities would be met with jubilee, Turkey would be more than happy to oblige. Again Turkey got something out of it and so did Trump. To end it Trump would threaten sanctions bringing the skirmish to halt, Trump would announce that all US troops wouldn't be pulled and no one would be the wiser but Baghdadi would be all the deader fulfilling a campaign promise going into another election year.
You would have to think that Turkey handing over any tapes of any such conversations and the dems using it to oust Trump would be considered more a sin among dems than the actual killing and torture without any recourse to Turkey in the future would be worth it, Turkey would only hand over any such evidence under those terms....but Americans would only view something such as this as another rule of law only applies to certain people, something they are already getting quite tired of.
