Busy bee me

in #thoughts8 years ago

This week is a little disorganized as I have had to rearrange my entire schedule to fit in an interview for a position that I am still unsure I want or am willing to do. It was an unexpected offer so far anyway as I wasn't even considering this kind of thing but who knows, maybe it is kismet. It'd be nice to have a little luck swing this way and I am hoping that my complete lack of preparation time is going to be offset by my ability to wing a presentation in the interview. Despite not looking for the job, having an offer on the table would still be a welcome option so, I will take it seriously.

Some might have noticed that I am not voting on comments at the moment but I am waiting for my Voting Power to recharge. For about a year now I have been paying for a delegation that has been running at a large loss so I could reward others but in this market, I just can't justify it anymore so I let it go. I have self-voted with it at 25% but to cover it would take close to 100 and, that isn't going to happen as it is not my style. As you might know, undelegating comes at a cost to voting power so, I will wait until it is higher and work backwards voting on comments so as not to throw votes that will end up below the dust threshold once the 3.5 day price adjusts for the plunge.

@practicalthoughts mentioned something about the value of votes cast and I have voted 43,000+ manual votes on the platform so far. Although is it impossible to know the real fiat value of those since people would have cashed out or held and different times, I would say that it is significant and the cost I paid for the delegation definitely went positive into the community, even if there was some cost to me. Overall, I am doing relatively well on the platform so putting in isn't an issue.

Off platform however well, I am looking at getting a another job :) so not so well considering I have little time to do what I am currently doing. Add another 40 hours a week on top and it is going to get interesting. This is the other reason I have cut the delegation as I suspect that I won't be able to post as often which is the only way I have been able to cover the fee. It actually takes a bit of stress off me too as I don't have to worry about covering the rent.

My plan is to work really hard and save really hard so after sorting out our life bills, I will have a little bit of fiat left over to invest. It has been a while since I was last able to buy Steem and 40 cents is a bloody good price considering the last time I bought it was in the 2 dollar range. I wish that I had 1000€ handy right about now but, I haven't had 1000€ handy for a very long time. Essentially, since I am currently unable to buy Steem externally, what I own now I have to be careful with.

Yep, it can all still go to zero but, I am okay with that, I will survive that too. The most important thing at the moment is to create enough real-world space and breathing room so that my wife is able to complete her studies on time which means, being able to over all of the costs of travel (she is at school in a different city) and life without her having to stress about how we are going to buy groceries.

Work is 'easy' when there is a reason to do it and the reason is my family. However, I also have a bit of an ulterior motive as the company I might get a job at could provide some future blockchain interaction and possibility and potentially, I could lead them along the path to Steem. Once I have a foot in the door, I am confident I would be able to convince them to give it a go.

As I mentioned yesterday (and other times) there are opportunities of value here that don't require that value to come out of the inflation pool at all, there are opportunities to build real world business or, navigate them on their path to blockchain participation. There are so many new sectors and service industries that will come on as well as a massive amount of traditional industry that will begin looking to hook into the possibility. Learning all we can now gives us the best chance of future personal value and potential revenue streams we might not even imagine at this point. Likely, many of the things haven't even been thought of yet. People should start thinking about Steem as much more than a place to earn on content alone.

Anyway, I should create this presentation just in case my winging skills aren't up to scratch in the interview.

i hope everything falls into place and you can relax a bit. Stress is a killer.

I always take the approach it will somehow, even if I don't know how. I am kind of excited by the opportunity though.

That is how I think. No idea how I get out of certain situations but I do.

¡Hola @tarazak! Espero que la oferta sea completamente de su agrado, para que pueda aceptar, ya que la familia es una razón poderosa para decidir si se toma el empleo o no, cariños y besos.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm half-waiting for a phone call too, but should probably be more pro-active.

gotta be active these days; here, there, everywhere.

Best of luck with the interview.. sounds like they want you on board so that should make it easier! \n\nYou've most definitely added value to the platform. Hopefully some friendly whale will give you a free delegation for a while!
