How Google's A.I. Will Lead To Translating Alien Languages

in #thoughts7 years ago

Recently, I watched a few episodes of ancient aliens and set me on a bit of a thought trail.

How will humans communicate and understand with aliens?

I mean linguistics will probably have a difficult time if they speak on a different frequency or talk any way different then use, not vocalizing using typical motor expressions and the muscles of the mouth/vocal cords.

And so it lead me to this...

Google's A.I. Language For Decoding Languages

A while ago an article came out talking about how Google's A.I. itself had developed a new algorithm in order to code, transcribe and learn/translate languages more efficiently.

And what happened was that the code itself inside of this A.I. learning system begun to create a more efficient language for learning and translating languages.

What happens is that google translate takes a word in English say "Hi" and then finds the proper value in another language, say Spanish, which is "Hola."

Instead of needing to learn over and over again and look up in its directory, something similar to python, it developed its own code to quicken the process.

Yet, this ability to learn sparked a thought.

How We Will Learn Alien Languages -  Facial and Pattern Recognition

The logical next step is that this algorithm continues to find and decode languages.

Maybe its too early in its infancy, but I would think that this language would be able to decipher ancient languages (granted we help it attribute meanings) and the development of languages by regressive analysis paired.

It may even be able to decipher hieroglyphics to their exact meaning based on the evolution and pictures.

And that comes from showing it to the algorithm.

Then it would take the image, code it and create its own way to improve upon itself what each 1 and 0 truly means.

Successively this leads to a computers ability to lip read, to draw pattern and facial recognition into its view and optimize itself based on that language.

Meaning that the new IPhone X and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with their facial recognition will help to solidify this.

Google will continue to learn and optimize.

Leading to my hypothesis.

This Algorithm Will Allow For Interplanetary Communicaton

One thing that we don't know, or at least I don't know, is how aliens communicate.

Granted they are all probably unique to their environmental upbringings and how their species survived as well as the main objectives of them at the time (war and dangerous words expand during times of war, and peaceful terms increase during peaceful times.)

But there will be a fundamental ability to point at something and say "This is an apple."

Then the alien understands and explains it in their terms.

As Google's language A.I. continues to expand its ability to see patterns, faces and tie meaning to through coding the universe, it will then be able to pick out certain features of this aliens language.

Its body's movement, how it responds to threats, etc...

A.I. should allow for a seamless ability to transition in a multiplanetary living in close quarters with the species already there, and then with animals foreign and not, so on and so forth.

Its pretty spectacular, but this could just be a random thought,

Austin
