My life and the turning point

Having appreciated God, I would say that the journey of life has been a very tedious task for me, most especially, in my decision making. I could remember the trauma I was subjected to after losing my mum to the cold hand of death at a very tender age.

The first thing that came to my mind when I heard about her demise was that of how I will be taking decisions on my own and this reason being that she's always been the one taking decisions for me as I still depend on her for so many things. So, when I lost her, it's like the world has come to an end and then, I was not sure of what my decision to take life would be.

But immediately we laid her body to the mother earth, the reality was dawn on me and I decided to be a man and by doing so, I began to take the big decision on my own and thank God, i was able to take the right decision most especially on the one I'm about to share with us.

A few days after her death, a man living in our neighborhood came to our house. The man was the richest man on our street. So, when he came, he promised to help me secure a job at his place of work. Less i forget, the man was a Vehicle Inspector Officer (VIO)..

So, this man said he would help me secure a job in his office. When he said this, I was a little bit indifferent about the offer as my next move back then was to pursue my academics in the university and as a secondary school student back then, how would I drop out of school knowing fully well that my SSCE exam was around the corner. So, all these and many more were the thoughts that were running through my mind.

Although I needed money to do things and even sponsor my education, I didn't really think dropping out of school for a casual job would make any real sense. Like I said earlier, these thoughts ran within me in a space of minutes even while sitting in front of the man and for this reason, it's kind of difficult for me to reach a conclusion in the shortest time.

However, instead of accepting the offer at a go, I pleaded with the man to give me 2 days grace to be able to think over the golden offer as I was very sure I would be in need of money to further my educational pursuit.

Immediately the man left, I began to ruminate about what he had offered me and my future and in the process, I became confused and it's at this point I prayed concerning the matter, but even at that, I was not shown anything being it in my dream or anywhere.

So, when I realized I have not seen anything in my dream as a result of the prayer, I decided to take a decision on the last day of the two days I pleaded for and that my decision was that I'm not going to accept the offer.

Although it's a tough decision for me to make, I just have to make the decision. So, after I made up my mind about the offer, I went to the man and I told him.

Though the man was expecting something different from me, I gave him the opposite of what he expected and when he heard me, he was shocked and moved with pity on how I would be able to survive the choice I have chosen.

Immediately I had told him my mind, I left his place and since then, the man never related with me as of before, but I didn't really care as I didn't really allow that to affect me.

So, not quite long, I saw a guy on our street putting on the Vehicle Inspector Officer's uniform and immediately I saw this, I knew that the slot had been given to the guy, though the guy had finished his SSCE exam, he was a year ahead of me.

So, instead of letting that distract me, I used to go for a menial job on the weekends and I made sure any proceeds that come from the menial job is used for my good and that's how I was able to see myself through my educational pursuit up to the higher institute of learning.

However, after I had finished with my degree, I enrolled for my masters program and in one of my visit to the street, I saw the other guy that accepted the offer roaming around the street and when we met and greeted him, he narrated his ordeal in the hand of the man as he was later dumped out of the job unexpectedly, he thanked God for a well taken decision of mine and that's when I realized that I have taken the best decision so far which had shaped my life from nothing to something as I now have a permanent job compared to the casual one in which I would have been dumped.

In conclusion, everything changed for good for me when I took the decision of not accepting the Greek offer offered to me by the richest man on our street.
